"This is who's behind the wheel when we confuse self-directed obedience with true surrender. We might look like we're in control, but without yielding to God, we're just acting subservient to our own will."

There's a word in the Bible that seems to rattle most.......O-B-E-Y. To the world, it sounds outdated. Maybe even oppressive. Like something meant to silence or control.

But to God, obedience is not bondage. It's a BLESSING.

Why has the culture around us began to treat obedience like a bad word?

Why "Obey " Feels Like SUBSERVIENCE Today

We live in a time where freedom is defined by doing whatever feels right.

We are told to "be your own boss", "live your truth" (hear often) and "break the rules if they don't serve you." ....TRUTH is the Word of God. It's contradicting to hear..."Live your truth" and not fully understand TRUTH.

Obedience, on the other hand, sound like:

*Giving up your voice

*Losing control

*Becoming a follower

It's no wonder the word "obey" feels more like a leash than LOVE.

BUT, that's not what God meant.

What God Says About Obedience

In Scripture, OBEDIENCE is not about control - it's about TRUST.

"If you love Me, Keep My Commandments." - John 14:15

Jesus didn't say, "If you fear Me..." He said, "If you love Me..."

In God's Kingdom, OBEDIENCE is not a power struggle.

It is how we respond to what "LOVE" is.

Obedience Isn't Less, Its More

Jesus obeyed the Father. Not because He was less than God, but because He trusted the will of the Father, who sent Him.

"He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross!"

Philippians 2:8

If the Son of God chose obedience, not as weakness but as strength and surrender, what does that say to us?

We are truly BLESSED because of His obedience, which can lead to another Blog Post!!!

Last Thoughts

We live in a society that wants PURPOSE.

There's a crave for meaning, truth, justice, and authenticity.

You often hear"I'm living my truth" and TRUTH is the Word of God.

Obedience? It's the bridge between knowing God's Word and living it.

Final Reflections

Obedience may never trend.

It may never feel popular.

But it will ALWAYS be POWERFUL.

It's the quiet "yes" that changes everything.

Let the world around us call it subservience.

Let heaven call it surrender.

And may we live out obedience not as a burden, but as our response to God who first LOVED us.

WHAT HAS GOD ASKED YOU TO OBEY, BUT SOCIETY SAYS RESIST?

Let's talk about it below.
